Global Sustainable Sourcing Process Manager at Grundfos
Grundfos has ambitious goals for climate action, consistently looking for ways to lead in their industry.
As the company’s sustainability programme evolved, it became clear that the existing spend-based methodology — largely spreadsheet-driven — was reaching its limits.
The approach required extensive manual effort, lacked flexibility to adjust to shifting data requirements, and couldn’t separate market-driven factors such as inflation from true carbon impacts.
To advance both internal objectives and external commitments, Grundfos recognized the need for a more robust and future-ready solution.
“Every time there was a change in purchasing classifications, we had to manually update our emissions data", Tímea Vadas, Global Sustainable Sourcing Process Manager at Grundfos, recalls.
To address these challenges, Grundfos partnered with Sievo to embed carbon insights directly into their procurement analytics workflow by combining CO₂ Analytics with Sievo’s spend module.
This integration enables emissions to be allocated using the most reliable data available — from purchased volumes and spend data to supplier-specific emission factors.
Grundfos highlighted the implementation as exceptionally smooth, crediting Sievo’s proactive and collaborative approach.
With automation replacing manual effort, tailored emissions reports are now generated in a fraction of the time.
Any updates in purchasing data are automatically reflected in real-time emission metrics, eliminating hours of rework and ensuring data accuracy across departments.
"With CO₂ analytics directly linked to our spend module, any updates or reclassifications in our purchasing data are instantly reflected in our emission reports", Tímea Vadas reflects. "What used to take hours of manual work now happens automatically."
“The previous setup required plenty of working hours to put together our carbon report", Timea Vadas highlights. The impact has been transformational.
Carbon reporting now takes 90% less effort, significantly reducing the burden on internal teams and eliminating the need to scale headcount.
This efficiency frees up time for more strategic priorities, such as supplier engagement and new sustainability initiatives. With real-time data and automatic updates, Grundfos can quickly identify trends, track progress, and communicate results with management and stakeholders with confidence.
The collaboration has not only streamlined reporting but also strengthened Grundfos’ ability to lead on climate action and deliver on net zero commitments.
Together, Grundfos and Sievo have demonstrated that with the right partnership, even a smaller team dedicated to the Supply Chain environmental impact can deliver substantial progress toward decarbonization goals.
